Alfred Charles Emery was born in 1919. He received his B.A. from the University of Utah in 1940, and his J.D. from the U in 1947. He assumed the position of President when James Fletcher was assigned to NASA in 1971. He stayed until 1973 when David P. Gardner was named President.
